Why We Turned Down Good Morning America

The Call

"Good Morning America wants to feature your product."

Any founder would jump at this. National TV. Millions of viewers. The kind of exposure startups dream about.

We said no.

The Problem

Our first product—an AI that helped elderly parents navigate technology—had a fatal flaw. It worked in demos. It failed in the real world.

The edge cases were endless. Connection issues. Hearing problems. Confusion that compounded instead of resolving. We could show a perfect 5-minute segment on TV. But we couldn't deliver that experience consistently to real users.

The Decision

Going on GMA would have been incredible for our brand. Terrible for our users.

We'd have driven thousands of people to try something that would disappoint them. We'd have taken their trust and their time—and given them frustration in return.

So we said no. We went back to the drawing board. We burned through more runway figuring out what actually works.

What We Learned

The best marketing is a product that works.

We pivoted to Reeva—AI that handles customer service calls. Different problem. Same mission: use AI to solve real problems for real people.

This time, we didn't launch until we could deliver consistently. Not just in demos. In production. At scale.

The Result

Reeva works. Users complete calls successfully. They come back. They tell their friends.

No national TV coverage (yet). But something better: a product we're proud of.

Sometimes saying no is the best decision you can make. It took us $6M to learn that. Hope this saves someone else the tuition.
